Digital Garage Inc. will hold THE NEW CONTEXT CONFERENCE 2011 FALL in Ebisu, Tokyo, on November 3-4, 2011. The conference entitled "Lean Startup Camp Tokyo", and we will focus on the increasingly popular topic among the Internet businesses, "Lean Startup," which is a method that advocates the creation of rapid prototypes designed to test market assumptions. As we are pleased to have the lean startup experts from San Francisco Bay Area and the rest of the world, we would like to invite anyone in the Internet business in Japan to join our Lean Startup discussion at NCC's Panel Sessions.

Pieter Franken is the co-founder and director of Safecast Japan.
Together with a few others he founded a volunteer group that is focused on measuring the environment, and radiation levels in Japan in particular. Not happy with the quantity and quality of the data available in Japan, Safecast is focusing on measuring radiation as a independent group, striving for full transparency and open access. The creation and growth of Safecast as a lean .ORG has become an inspiration of many for how to leverage open hardware, open software and social networks to create phenomenal impact in the society and empower citizens to become a scientific and social force. Pieter is also a Senior Visiting Researcher at Keio University doing research on sensor networks, as part of the ScanningTheEarth project.
Pieter invented the iGeigie, a radiation sensor that docks with your iPhone to create a versatile geiger counter.

Ian was working on worldwide distributed hypertext systems with Ted Nelson a couple years before Tim Berners-Lee proposed the World Wide Web, HTTP, and HTML. He was on the launch team at HotWired, the first company to bring a revenue model to the Internet. (Banner ads. Yes, we still use them. 468x60 for evar!) He was employee #4 at Friendster, the company that kicked off this whole Social Media thing. And for the seven years Ian was at Pivotal Labs, he's been sharing insights into agile development with companies large and small, and helped to grow Pivotal Labs from a small company to a world renowned team of over 100 developers. Since joining Digital Garage as Group CTO in August, he's taken these ideas back to Japan, the country where both Lean and Ruby come from. He is more likely to be found in San Francisco than any other city, though your odds are probably about 50/50.

Takehiro earned his Master Degree from the Graduate School of Science at Tokyo University.
As he was working as a system developer for Yahoo Japan Auction, Takehiro has gained knowledge on large-scale system operation. He was also greatly influenced by the business model of auction systems.
Since Takehiro's joining Kakaku's "Tabelog.com" as its System Manager in June 2005, the site has grown from 0 visits to 3,000,000 user visits per month. He is now supporting Tabelog's overall operation from design to system development and application, as well as business development.

Joe O'Brien is a father, business owner, speaker and developer. In 2006 he co-founded EdgeCase, a leading Ruby and Ruby on Rails training and consulting company. In 2009 he took EdgeCase international by opening up an office in Edinburgh Scotland. EdgeCase has had a tremendous amount of success helping companies as large as Ingersoll Rand, GAP and AT&T; Interactive as well as those startups still in the inception stage. Joe is a speaker and has spoken at conferences ranging from RailsConf to numerous regional conferences and countless user groups. Ray Ozzie is an independent software entrepreneur, most recently having served as Chief Software Architect of Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft he was best known for his work in the area of social productivity as the creator of both Lotus Notes and Groove.

Earlier in his career Ozzie developed Symphony for Lotus. He worked on Lotus 1-2-3, worked on VisiCalc and TK!Solver at Software Arts, and did distributed OS work at Data General.
Honored as a distinguished alumnus by University of Illinois, Ozzie has been recognized by numerous organizations including the IEEE and World Economic Forum. He has been inducted as a member of both the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.

Mike Peng is a Design Lead and co-founder of the IDEO Tokyo studio. Since his arrival at IDEO in 2006, Mike has led the firm’s design research and strategy efforts in industries ranging from education and hospitality to financial services and consumer electronics.
Currently, Mike leads project work and client relationships across Asia and mentors designers within the region. He is also working closely with colleagues on the future strategic vision for IDEO Asia.
Before he moved to Tokyo, Mike helped start IDEO’s office in New York, where he led several projects and experimented with new methods of inspiration-gathering and storytelling to stretch the Human Factors practice.
He moonlighted as an adjunct professor at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, teaching public policy, urban planning, and nonprofit management students how to use design thinking to solve complex problems.
Prior to IDEO, Mike graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in cognitive science and an emphasis in neuroscience. He then joined Johnson & Johnson, where he worked on global strategy, user interface design, laboratory informatics, and process excellence initiatives in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. He also trained as Six Sigma black belt.
In his spare time, Mike is a competitive tennis player (his high-school court is named after him!) and an amateur hip-hop dancer who finds solace in reality TV and celebrity gossip.

Before joining LUXr, Kate was with Adaptive Path, where she specialized in user research and design for complex and emerging digital systems, bringing customer empathy and collaborative design practices to companies such as Nokia, Travel+Leisure Publishing, Globo Networks, and Greenpeace.
Kate’s background spans technology, marketing, interactive media, business management and organizational development. She’s worked with corporations, nonprofit organizations and early stage companies to helpthem rapidly grow, change and successfully chart new paths in ambiguous times and shifting markets.

Dan Sythe is co-founder and CEO of Iospectra - International Medcom, manufacturer of radiation detection instruments and systems since 1986.
Since 1978 he has been a consultant and instrumentation provider to many individuals and communities affected by the nuclear age, including those surrounding Nevada Test Site, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl.
He was appointed by Three Mile Island Public Health Fund's blue ribbon Scientific Advisory Board to develop a radiation monitoring system that addressed deficiencies identified in offsite monitoring programs.
A pilot system,which ran for ten years, implemented the first integration of real time data on a web-based GIS system. He is Executive Director of Whalesong Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring stewardship of the world's oceans.
Whalesong Project has webcast the live songs of Maui's Kohola (humpback whales) for eleven seasons. Previously Dan was Senior Electronic Design Engineer at Astec BSR USA Ltd., and co-founder and Director of Instrument Research at Solar Electronics International.

He has discovered that adopting the traditional waterfall development model for a system that users have never been exposed to is the key reason why these projects failed. Toshihisa has been sharing the concepts and knowledge of Lean Startup via his blog “Lean Startup Japan” since October 2010.

He developed his career as a programmer, being involved in both inside and outside of Japan for developing ISP platform for Netscape and managing Technology team for Digital Garage.
Mikihiro joined Kakaku.com in 2004 as CTO, where he oversaw technology driven service developments.In 2007, Mikihiro was appointed as COO.
From 2010 until July 2011, Mikihiro was the Group CTO of Digital Garage.
