He is a proponent of open source hardware, hackerspaces, and synthetic biology.

Tito is also the founder of BioCurious, the first hackerspace for biology based in Sunnyvale, California, and co-creator of 2 biotech lab hardware startups, OpenPCR and Pearl Biotech.
